Terms of Use
These Terms explain the rules for using RIP Letters. By creating an account, saving letters, naming recipients, naming trusted contacts, purchasing a plan, or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that's true.
What RIP Letters provides
RIP Letters helps you write, store, organize, and prepare personal letters and related information for future delivery to people you choose. The service includes letter writing, recipient profiles, trusted contact setup, check-ins, release status tracking, recipient delivery, archive, export, and deletion features.
Not legal or emergency services
RIP Letters is not a will, trust, estate plan, law firm, financial advisor, medical provider, emergency response service, or legal death confirmation service. You should not rely on RIP Letters as a substitute for professional advice or estate planning documents.
User responsibilities
You're responsible for providing accurate account, recipient, and trusted contact information; keeping that information current; choosing recipients carefully; deciding which letters are drafts or finished; and reviewing your plan, archive, and release settings. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to share information you provide about someone else — including trusted contacts, recipients, and guardians — even though they haven't separately agreed to these terms.
Billing and payment
Storage plans combine a one-time storage fee with a small monthly fee that keeps editing and adding letters active. If a monthly payment lapses, your existing stored letters remain safely stored and will still be released under your existing settings if the time comes — you just won't be able to edit letters or add new ones until the subscription is reactivated. We will never delete or withhold delivery of a finished letter because of a missed payment.
Drafts and finished letters
Drafts are private and are not released by default. Finished or locked letters may be included in a release workflow. Recipients receive only letters addressed to them and do not receive your full account.
Trusted contacts
Trusted contacts help verify whether you may still be alive if you miss required check-ins. Trusted contacts are not automatically recipients and receive letters only if separately named as recipients.
Check-ins and release workflow
Check-ins are requested every 4 weeks. If you don't confirm within 24 hours, your primary trusted contact is emailed. If they don't respond within 48 hours, your backup contacts are emailed. If nobody responds within another 48 hours, the account is flagged for review. Letters are never released purely by an automated timer — a human reviews every flagged account before release is approved.
Deceased reports and disputes
If a trusted contact reports that you are deceased, RIP Letters will notify you and provide a final opportunity to check in before release. RIP Letters may delay, pause, review, or refuse release when there is suspected fraud, abuse, identity concern, technical error, legal issue, or dispute.
No guarantee of delivery
RIP Letters will try to operate according to your settings and plan terms, but delivery may fail or be delayed because of outdated information, email filtering, platform failures, payment issues, identity verification failures, disputes, legal concerns, data loss, security incidents, or service interruptions. RIP Letters is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RIP Letters' total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including a letter that is delayed, undelivered, or delivered to the wrong person due to inaccurate information you provided.
If the service ever shuts down
If we ever discontinue RIP Letters, we will give at least 90 days' notice by email and provide a way to export your letters and recipient list before the service closes.
Acceptable use
You may not use RIP Letters to break the law, harass or harm others, upload malicious code, access another person's account, circumvent security or payment rules, submit false information, abuse recipient recovery, or use the service for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for fraud, abuse, non-payment, or violation of these terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute arises, we ask that you first contact info@ripletters.com so we can try to resolve it informally.
